Privacy Statement
Version 2026-09-17-2 · Published 17 September 2026
1. Privacy responsibility
Questions or privacy requests may be sent to support@visualfieldtracker.com.
2. Experimental nature
Visual Field Tracker is an experimental self-observation tool. It is not intended to diagnose, screen for, predict, monitor, treat or prevent a disease or medical condition. Information recorded through the service may nevertheless reveal health-related information and is therefore handled with particular care.
3. Information we process
- registration, account and contact information;
- user-recorded stimulus positions, session maps, settings, comparisons and notes;
- consent and acceptance records;
- support communications; and
- limited security, access and technical-error logs.
Photographs selected for Vision Simulation are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded to Visual Field Tracker.
4. Why we process it
We process information to create and administer your account, provide the experimental service, save the sessions you choose to record, protect the service, respond to requests and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell personal data, use it for advertising or use it to make automated medical decisions.
5. Consent and legal basis
Account and technical data are processed as necessary to provide and secure the service. Because recorded sessions and notes may reveal health-related information, they are processed with your explicit consent where consent is required. You may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us or deleting your account. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing, but it may make continued use of the service impossible. Where the GDPR applies, the relevant bases are Article 6(1)(b), Article 6(1)(f) and, for health-related data, Article 9(2)(a).
6. Hosting and recipients
Primary service data are hosted within Europe. Data may be processed by hosting, infrastructure, email and security providers only as necessary to operate the service and under appropriate contractual safeguards.
7. Retention
Account and session data are kept while your account is active. If you delete your account or withdraw the necessary consent, active data will be deleted or anonymised without undue delay unless retention is legally required. Residual backup copies are overwritten through the normal backup cycle. Security and error logs are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for security and troubleshooting.
8. Cookies
The application uses essential cookies for authentication, account security, consent records and protected forms. They are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. The public information website does not use advertising or behavioural-tracking cookies.
9. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent. You may also complain to the competent data-protection authority, including the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner where applicable.
10. Security and changes
Reasonable technical and organisational safeguards are used, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. We may update this statement when the service or legal requirements change. Material changes will be shown with a new date and, where required, presented for renewed acknowledgement or consent.
